The Tahki Institute

I want you to view me as a partner in your health journey rather than a one-sided conversation of "I say, you do." The framework of my approach is based on what I call the Four Pillars of Health: Sleep, Mental Well Being (which includes stress-management, coping skills and spiritual health), Movement, and Nutrition. I look at the whole picture. I take a deep dive into your life, your choices, your behaviors, and I help you find solutions to modify, augment, or outright change the direction of your health. I have access to comprehensive laboratory testing and blood work profiles to help guide my decision making. Some say, "The devil is in the details," whereas I say, "The healing is in the details." As your Lifestyle Medicine doctor, I shine the light on blind spots in your health that can help uncover pitfalls or lead to breakthroughs in your health and healing.

Dr. Tahki

I have been practicing medicine for over 20 years as a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician. My focus has largely been on prevention and in late 2018, I launched Dr. Tahki Lifestyle Medicine. I believe an empowered patient can do much more for their own health than any prescription can provide. I see myself as a steward of health for every individual who walks through my door. With my many years of experience in medicine combined with my openness to other healing sciences, I can help patients craft a personal health journey that fits their individual needs, lifestyle, desires and goals.

The Four Pillars Approach

Nutrition

There is no one-size-fits-all eating style or dietary recommendation. Multiple factors determine the nutritional path that is optimal for each individual. I help you navigate the gauntlet of nutrition science, popular thinking, and conventional wisdom to elucidate nutritional principles that will serve your body and lifestyle best.

Movement

It is often said that the best form of exercise is the one you will do. Although there is some truth to that, our culture has placed much value on the "right" kind of exercise. This topic falls victim to the same trap nutrition does: so many choices and confusion which leads to us throwing up our hands and ultimately doing nothing. Rather than seeking the "best" exercise, I help you focus on incorporating movement and physical activity into your life while taking in consideration your barriers, past struggles, and future goals.

Sleep

This is my favorite pillar of health. Sleep is so important that I feel it is not a pillar, rather the FOUNDATION, on which the other pillars stand. That being said, I endeavor to enlighten and educate you on the importance of this "elixir of life" and help you find ways to find more of it in your own life.

Mental Health

Stress. Need I say more. My goal here is to offer perspectives, tools and strategies to build stronger defenses to cope with stress and build your own personal arsenal for distress tolerance.
